When Darlington Chikwewo also known as Young DLC, enrolled at Boston College (Johannesburg campus) in early 2015, his intentions were to study music production at Soul Candi Institute of Music. He also had a wish to meet one of his role models, DJ Fresh from 5fm. Although he is yet to meet Fresh, the young talented lad has just made an achievement most young artists his age only dreams of. This past week, the CEO of Housepital Records from Netherlands, signed one of the tracks produced by the 19 year old Zimbabwean born DLC. The track titled ‘Don’t Stop’ will be published and marketed worldwide.

A semi-finalist at Rage 2015 Reload DJ Competition, Young DLC is an Electronic Dance Music producer, DJ and artist, who has to this date, produced enough material to compile two albums. However Young DLC says he will only decide how to release the rest of his music later, although he has another publishing offer from Sheer Music Group. “My focus now is to get my music on local SA radio stations and most probably do a video for my first single, ‘Don’t Stop’. I am also looking for more opportunities to play at Electronic Dance Music festivals here in South Africa and abroad, because I love the stage and seeing people dance to young music” says Young DLC.

Tendai Joe, who is DLC’s manager also had this to say “Young DLC is a multi-talented hard working youngster and with his passion for music, it is only a matter of time before more doors start opening for him. We are pleased with his progress so far, but we will be happy when his music has been playlisted on local radio. His latest remix of ‘Mukoko’ by Amara Brown and Tytan is doing well in Zimbabwe, and that is something we are proud of.”

We will be keeping our eye on this young EDM Producer’s journey and see where he ends up in the world rankings seeing that most of the best-known DJs in the EDM scene hail from the Netherlands, including Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Sander van Doorn, Fedde le Grand, Hardwell, Showtek and Afrojack.
