Mpumalanga Black Aces will be hoping to end a run of five straight defeats against Kaizer Chiefs when they clash in the Absa Premiership on Tuesday evening, while striker Collins Mbesuma will seek to end a relatively barren run against his former employers.

Chiefs have won the last five meetings between the clubs, three in the league and one each in the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout.

The last Black Aces success against Chiefs came almost two years ago to the day when a lone strike from Miguel Timm put a fatal dent in the AmaKhosi’s 2013/14 league title hopes.

Mbesuma is on course for the Golden Boot award in the league this season but has a number of players breathing down his neck.

He was once the darling of the Chiefs fans as he netted 35 goals in 43 starts during the 2004/05 season before leaving the club for Europe.

He returned a few seasons later, but has never quite managed to score the goals he would have liked against Amakhosi.

He has netted three goals in 11 starts for Mamelodi Sundowns, Lamontville Golden Arrows, Orlando Pirates and now Black Aces.

If he can score the winner tonight it would not only put him further head in the leading scorers stakes, but also reignite Black Aces’ hopes of a top three position this season.

The club have not won any of their last seven league matches, while Chiefs are winless in their last five in all competitions.
