Here I am detailing about how you can start your own import-export business with 5 effective steps.


Step 1 – Decide What You Want to Start

In an initial stage of starting your import-export business, you have to decide on which type of business you want to start. If you want to partner with the domestic sellers for finding the foreign buyers, you can initially start as an export management company. Or if you want to serve foreign buyers by making them to do business with domestic suppliers who can serve their requirements, you can establish an export trading company.

Step 2 – Register Your Business

Once you have decided what kind of import-export business you have to start, you need to register your company and get required permits and licenses.

Step 3 – Choose the Product

Now your business has become an official trading point worldwide. The next step you need to do is that you have select the market in which you want to do import-export. In this, you have to choose a product in which you want to do business. In the early stages of your business, you may choose to focus on the food segment at first. For example, importing out-of-season produce and inexpensive foreign stables such as rice can be a right choice. To get analysis market with import export shipment records and trade data.

Step 4 – Establish Foreign and Domestic Contacts

After choosing the product, the most time-consuming task is to find domestic or foreign buyers or suppliers. For this, you need to do some research work. You have to place calls and send emails and mail marketing materials directly to sales and purchasing managers in each company. Thus, follow up all conversations and agreements with them.

Step 5 – Compile a List of Companies

Lastly, compile a list of companies from the options that you made in step 4. Choose those that expressed an interest in doing business with you.
